Porta Porta!

Fact: I’ve been living in this neighbourhood for almost a decade, but I’ve never check out this charming little Italian restaurant before. All my exes suck. (Haha! Kidding.)

You’ll find yourself in a different world when you enter Porta Porta.

Having travelled to Verona and Venice in Italy, the ambience of Porta Porta sent me back to the great times in Italy where I can easily find a romantic place for meals.

I had the House Menu set with unexpectedly awesome house wine. That red wine (along with the food) has the ability to send you straight to sex after your dinner date. I didn’t go for the Fai Te (special chef’s menu), $55+ per head, as the waitress warned us that the serving is for the “very very very hungry”.

The house wine costs more than the House Menu set. Wine: $75+ House Set: $40+.

Porta Porta is a great place for romantic dates. I enjoyed my dinner immensely (having a great company completed it). The food wasn’t mind blowing, but it was good. My favourite course would be the spaghetti alle vongole (seafood). It makes me wanna go back again and have it ala carte. You’ll be paying for the overall experience. And if there is anything more I could ask for, it would be dimming of the existing lights, having candle lights on each table and better service. E.g. be greeted with a friendly smile and be warm like an Italian! I believe that this is a family business.

The place has bern around longer than Choon Seng or the bark’s cafe…it’s one of the few provincial Italian eateries around. Yes, it’s a family business but sadly I think the head of the household passed on a couple of years back. But the food is still good and the ambience is lovely.
